Boy Toy Gets Turned Around

Posted on: 04/06/08

So, I thought this was sort of an amusing little story...

Today I did a signing at a new Borders on the Strip in Las Vegas. Apparently, Texas Governor Rick Perry was there earlier in the day, touting a book he's written about the Boy Scouts.

According to more than one Borders employee (I was told this story more than once), when Gov. Perry arrived, there was a display of books in the front of the store, including Boy Toy. Before the governer entered the store, one of his advance people noticed Boy Toy...

...picked it up...

...and then replaced it...turned around so that the cover faced inward!

It looks like the cover was just too risqué to chance it appearing in the background of a photo with the governor. Now that's political courage!

That's dumb; why couldn't they just take the picture elsewhere instead of in front of the Boy Toy display? My dad is a pastor and he didn't find anything wrong with the cover OR the story. In fact, he thought it was great since it's such a hot issue these days.

I live in Texas, and I already think that gov. Perry is a total douche. I don't think he realized that the first Barry Lyga book I read was Boy Toy. SCREW YOU, RICK!
