Goth Girl Rising...on Sale?

Posted on: 04/18/09

Update: It's not just me. (Courtesy of Sandi in the comments.)

OK, I knew that people were eager for Goth Girl Rising, but $1,000? For a used copy? That's ridiculous!

(As always, click to embiggen.)

Amazon screen capture

I circled the price and my favorite part, explaining that this copy "may have been withdrawn from library circulation."

Yeah, right.

Given that I just two days ago sent the proof pages back to my editor, I'm reasonably certain there are no copies in existence -- new OR used.

Obviously, the whole thing's a screw-up, but I thought it was pretty funny. Most likely someone entered the wrong ISBN when planning to sell another book and got mine instead.

But it's still up on Amazon, so for the time being I'm going to pretend that someone, somewhere, thinks a book that doesn't exist yet is worth a thousand bucks. :)

That's amazingly hilarious. I like how the "List/New/Used" section's set up price-wise. What a day-brightener. Thanks, Mr. Lyga. :)

I saw on another blog where this was happening to other authors. I can't seem to find the blog now, but I'll keep looking. Some think it's a person trying to scam people.

Personally, I got excited when I saw your blog title then remembered your Tweet where you said you just sent it off. Dang, gotta wait a little longer :)

HA! Thats hilarious. I actually wanna place a bid on that to see what it turns out to be. i would laugh if someone was actually trying to fool people. That would be terrible, spending that much money then realizing it was a scan. Barry, you should contact them and laugh and see if its a scam or a mistake.

@Dana: Looks like it's been taken down already. I'm pretty sure it was a scam of some sort.

Wait, wait...

$1000... PLUS $3.99 shipping?!

The thousand is understandable, but those shipping fees are just getting out of hand these days.

@Christoph: You bring up an EXCELLENT point! For that amount of dosh, they should toss in a free shipping upgrade at the very least. Would YOU want your thousand-dollar book sent UPS Ground?
