Goth Girl Rising Trailer Contest Winner!

Posted on: 09/10/09

Here we go! The Goth Girl Rising Trailer contest is over and a winner has been chosen!

This was not easy, folks! There were some really fun trailers, and in the end, the three judges had a tough time. But here we go...

There were a total of 22 entries, most of which focused on The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy & Goth Girl. Remember: Every single entry wins a Goth Girl Minimate!

Of those 22 entries, the judges narrowed it down to eight semi-finalists, then three finalists, then the winner.

SEMI-FINALISTS -- These folks will receive the Minimate and a special prize from my publisher, Houghton Mifflin:

FINALISTS -- These folks will receive the Minimate, the prize from Houghton Mifflin, and a signed hardcover edition of Boy Toy:

THE WINNER receives all of the above prizes plus a signed ARC (advanced reader copy) of Goth Girl Rising!

Thanks, Barry! I'm very excited that me and my pal were at least finalists, of course, I was really looking forward to nabbing the ARC. But thanks!

Sorry, but this is definitley not the best trailer out there. To be blunt, it's very poorly made. I think you could have made a better choice. I apologize, but i'm disappointed because my favorite did not win.

@Molly: Sorry you feel that way. Obviously, the judges didn't agree. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, of course. This is a very subjective business, after all.

We never thought everyone would be happy with our decision. That's the part of a fun contest like that this that sort of sucks. But I hope everyone who participated had a good time. And everyone gets a prize no matter what. :)

Yes!

Hah! I never got around to making my trailer (too many other things got in the way, sadly) but this was the one I liked the most, so I'm very glad this one is the winner. It deserved it, simply because it was actually done as a movie-like trailer, like the contest's name implied. Of course, the other trailers were creative too, but none quite as comprehensive or as engaging as this one. :)

I'm so glad this one won! It was my favorite. I would have entered, but procrastination got the best of me, haha.

You said, about the winner: "I'm very glad this one is the winner. It deserved it, simply because it was actually done as a movie-like trailer, like the contest's name implied. Of course, the other trailers were creative too, but none quite as comprehensive or as engaging as this one."

But, I thought Fanboy and Goth Girl trailer #13 was the most trailer-like, and most professional. Did you watch it? And I'm actually not being sarcastic about that one.

True. I missed that one... but I still find trailer six to be full of more tension. 13 Drags on a bit, despite its accuracy to the book (which I much appreciate as I happen to be a stickler for such things). I found that the WMM text scenes really break these things up though and tend to take away from them, which is my real problem with 13. Otherwise, I do acknowledge my oversight and thank you for pointing out that one. :)
