What You Call Dark...

...I call true.

What you call dark, I call revelatory.

What you call dark, I call compelling.

What you call dark, I call honest.

What you call dark, I call epiphanic.

What you call dark, I call cathartic.

What you call dark, I call enlightening.

Thank you for this, and your previous post. I find it highly amusing/ironic/depressing that people attack YA fiction for being dark when the only books that have depressed me (not just made me sad, because any well-written book with sadness in it should be able to do that) were ones that I was forced to read in school. Have you ever read "Ethan Frome"? That's dark. "Boy Toy" and "Goth Girl Rising"? Those were hopeful.
